OOU Suspends Strike Action!
The Industrial Action by some unions in Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago Iwoye in the Ijebu North local government area of Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, was suspended Tuesday the 29th of December 2015 and the institution will resume academic activities on Wednesday.
The three unions namely, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), Non Teaching Staff Union (NASU) and National Association of Agricultural Students(NAAS)have on their path put an end to the ongoing strike.
Lest I remind you that the 23 day old strike has been embarked on by the ASUU-OOU chapter of Olabisi Onabanjo University and this is a result from the failure of the State government who has refused to pay the Lecturers their 15 months salary subventions and entitlements
Apparently, the Chairman ASUU-OOU still insists during his last meeting that the Strike still goes on indefinitely as the new Year arrives
We also have reports from the Vice Chancellor stating that all final year students of the university are to resume on the 5th of January while the rest of the students are to resume on the 7th of January 2016
Seems like the V.C, ASUU-OOU chairman and the other Union chairmen are not on the same page.
